Collection: Ellen Mote

As a child Ellen Mote lived in Lagos, Nigeria where her passion for travel and self-expression was born. The dynamic culture of Lagos encouraged her to pursue her calling as an artist, she later earned her BFA in Art.

Ellen Mote paints abstractions of the female form with acrylic on unprimed canvas. Ellen layers shapes and color in a sheer manner nodding to her own feelings of invisibility as a woman and a mother. Ellen challenges our pursuit of perfection and the impossibility of the expectation with symmetrical, but imperfect, lines colors and shapes.

Ellen has travelled to over 30 countries, and continues to infuse her global viewpoint into her work. She lives and works in Waco, Texas with her husband and three children.
