A pair of French armchairs from about 1850, with square padded backs, open arms on turned supports and fluted tapered front legs. The frames are painted a soft chalky cream, with painted rosettes along the crest rail. Newly upholstered in an Allem Studio floral, pink blooms and blue sprigs on a deep olive ground, which gives the formal frames a relaxed, garden-room warmth. They're upright and light on their feet, made to flank a table or a fireplace, and just as good split up across a room.
